A newborn session is a unique and heartwarming experience, capturing the innocence and beauty of a newborn in their earliest days of life.
1. When is the best time to schedule a newborn session?
The recommended time to schedule the newborn session is within the first 14 days of your baby's arrival. This is when the baby is typically the sleepiest and will curl in the adorable poses that parents love. While the first two weeks is recommended, every baby is different and circumstances may vary. To secure your session it's best to reach out during pregnacy, I then write your due date on the calendar so when the baby arrives there are dates available around that time.
2. What would I bring to the session?
The studio is full of props, blankets, wraps, outfits and accessorites needed for the baby. It is encouraged to bring along any special items such as family heirlooms, special blankets or sentimental items that you would like to have incorporated into the session. Remember to bring along extra diapers, wipes, and a soother if the baby takes one.
3. How long will the session take?
The full newborn session can be between 2-3 hours in length. This allows time to feed, change and sooth the baby when needed. It is a very relaxed enviornment with only one session in the studio that day. This session includes a variety of setups with unique props, wrapped poses and includes parent and sibling poses.
The wrapped newborn mini session is focused exclusively on capturing the newborn in snug, swaddled poses. The session typically lasts one hour, featuring a minimalist set up with soft, stretchy wraps in various colours and textures. The goal is to create adorable and timeless images that highlight the delicate features of the baby while maintaining a sense of warmth and comfort. The simplicity of wrapped poses is an ideal option for babies over 14 days as well.
Maternity Sessions are scheduled between 29-35 weeks and can be in the studio or outdoors. Outdoor sessions are best taken in late afternoons when the light is beautiful. Maternity sessions last about 45 minutes to an hour.
What to wear: Your maternity pictures should reflect who you are so it's important that you dress in an outfit that reflects your personal style. Fitted clothing allows your baby bump to be the star of the session but flowy dresses and tops photograhy really well too. I recommend avoided neon colours, tiny patterns and black if we are shooting outdoors. The most important thing is to feel comfortable and to wear something you really like yourself in.
Doesn't time fly by! Your little one has reached the milestone of turning one! Capture the joy growth, and precious moments of the past year with a special photo session. Bring along any special outfits your would like to use during the session as well as any favourite blanket, stuffie or toy to remember their first year. There are a few outfits available to use in the studio as well as sometimes finding the right outfit can be difficult. Add some extra fun to your session by bringing a cake for a memorable cake smash experience!
Gather your family together for a long overdue photo session! Time flies by way to fast and it is so important to document these moments in time. Family sessions are outdoor and are booked in late afternoon/evening for the best light. Pinterest has great ideas for what colours to wear for a family session.
